GARLIC (Allium sativum)
Garlic (Allium sativum) is a species in the onion genus, Allium. Its close relatives include the onion, shallot, leek, chive, and Chinese onion .It has been used both as a food flavoring and as a traditional medicine.Kastamonu is the city in Turkey where in the production of garlic is highest. Its shelf life is long and the smell is sharp.Kastamonu garlic was desired to be grown in other places. Unfortunately, the smell and taste of garlic grown in Kastamonu soil could not be obtained. Most of the garlic grown here is given to pharmaceutical factories for the manufacture of antibiotics. Taşköprü garlic which has a very long shelf life can be stored for a year without cold storage.
